Jim's been an economist long enough to know that recessions happen, that economic environments are always influenced by politics, and that no economic forecaster can predict all the "black swans" that can suddenly and dramatically change the economic environment--usually for the worse.

He's also been an economist in a variety of economic sectors, including large corporations, the federal government, real estate associations, academia and currently chief economist of Parsec Financial, a wealth management firm.  This experience, along with his regular attendance at meetings where colleagues across the globe present and discuss all of the possible economic perturbations they see on the horizon, means that he has a highly up-to-date, informed view of current and coming economic changes.
